Wait, I thought your name was Sundog Outdoor Expeditions?
When we first started out we had a dream of a parent organization which we called Midcoast Outdoor Leadership Initiative with several offshoot programs, the first of which we called Sundog Outdoor Expeditions. In reality, the multiple names became too confusing, so we ended up combining into one single entity called Sundog Outdoor Leadership Initiative. That said, for tax purposes, our legal name is still Midcoast Outdoor Leadership Initiative.
My child has never done this activity before, is prior experience necessary?
Unless otherwise noted, no prior experience is necessary to participate in a Sundog program! Our professional subcontractors are fantastic at catering to each individual's needs. All we ask is that students come prepared for and open to new experiences. We'll handle the rest!

Who leads Sundog programs?
When we founded Sundog, we made a deliberate choice: rather than building everything in-house, we would partner with the best outdoor organizations already doing exceptional work in our region. Every Sundog program is led by professionally certified guides from locally rooted organizations including MountainSea Expeditions, Atlantic Climbing School, Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, and Maine Sport Outfitters, among others. Each guiding partner is trained in the Sundog curriculum and reinforces our core values, learning targets, and essential question throughout every program. They are also responsible for all technical outdoor skill instruction and risk management. Do you offer financial aid or scholarships?
Absolutely! Financial accessibility for all is one of the things that is of the utmost importance to us. In addition to reducing up front program costs, we also offer unlimited self-selected partial and full scholarships for every course that we run. For more information, please email info@sundogoe.com.
Do you provide transportation?
Programs guided by Maine Sport Outfitters offer transportation. Other programs do not unless otherwise noted.
Do you provide gear?
Our subcontractors provide all the necessary technical equipment for the given activity unless otherwise noted. However, we do not provide clothing appropriate for the weather or activity and that must be provided by the student.
What is your cancellation policy?
60 Day Notice - Full Refund
45 Day Notice - 75% refund
30 Day Notice - 50% refund
Less Than 15 Days Notice - No refund except for extenuating circumstances.
Please note: All refunds are less a 2.4% processing fee if original payment was with card.
