Mission
Having fun while developing outdoor skills by connecting youth with nature, peers, and community.
Vision
A future where youth feel they belong, grow confident, and care for the natural world.
What We Do
Sundog Outdoor Leadership Initiative facilitates cost-reduced and scholarship-supported outdoor adventure programs that get local kids outside, off screens, and into nature.
Sundog is For the Community, By the Community
Sundog was founded with the vision of providing after-school programs that get kids outside, learning and practicing new skills, and building the social and emotional resilience needed to successfully navigate the teenage years. Every Sundog program is led by a carefully selected team of local professional guides and educators, each experts in their craft. Rather than building everything in-house, we intentionally partner with the best outdoor organizations already doing exceptional work in our region.
This model means every participant gets best-in-class instruction in every activity, from guides who live and work in the same communities our kids do. It also means Sundog can focus on what makes us unique: designing intentional programming, keeping costs as low as possible, and ensuring no kid is ever turned away because of financial barriers. Our tiered tuition model and unlimited scholarship support make Sundog programs accessible to every family, regardless of what they can afford.
The result is something rare: world-class outdoor adventure programming, rooted in community, and built for everyone.
Our History
Sundog Outdoor Leadership Initiative (under the name Sundog Outdoor Expeditions at the time) was launched in September of 2017, offering six-week long after school programs run during the fall, winter, and spring. Since then, we have grown to offer five-week long after-school programs, school break camps, summer camp, and other specialty courses and collaborations with local schools and like minded organizations.
